The Dominant Pentatonic Scale (Same as Major)

Our next example shows how to use the pattern as a dominant scale. Again, like bar chords and other scales, this too can be moved up or down the guitar neck into any position. To use this scale over a dominant chord, place your fourth finger on the root note on the sixth string and play the scale in that position. This is the same as playing over major chords.

This pattern in this position may be used over the A7 chord or most songs in the key A. It is especially well suited to playing blues.

To change to another dominant chord, simply slide your fourth finger to the root note of the new key or chord and play in the new position.
