DRUM TUNING
A tuned drum is a clean sounding resonant drum.
Properly tuned drums are approximately a minor third apart. bassdrum-tight front head. Loose back head for punch
Floor toms – the bottom head should be lower than the top. It is approximately an octave from the snare.
Mounted toms – the bottom heads are lower than the top just a bit. Each tom will have an area that it resonates at naturally. The size of each drum dictates its final tuning.
Snare drum – the top head should be an octave from the floor tom. Some suggest F or G. The snares should be loose enough not to choke the drum.
